Before The Procedure Begins
Before the ovarian stimulation method starts, there rae specific fertilization tests that you would have to undergo. Those tests include blood tests to check the hormone’s baseline levels in yours. This would help the doctor to analyze which treatment would be the best suited to you according to your condition. The physician would recommend you to take birth control pills for many weeks prior to the fertility treatment. This is done to ensure that your hormone clock is on time.
How Does Ovarian Stimulation Work?
In an IVF treatment, the doctor maximizes the chances of generating success by stimulating many mature eggs. The doctor injects certain fertility medications for at least 8-14 days in this phase. This process helps in producing various mature eggs. If your follicles are slow to mature, the stimulation might take time.
The medicines derive from two principal hormones- FSH (Follicle Stimulation Hormone) and LH (Luteinizing Hormone). These hormones contain the following effects in them:
- FSH (Follicle Stimulation Hormone): it stimulates the follicles that grow at the time of the menstrual cycle. Usually, the non-dominant follicles die before ovulation; this happens because of lower FSH levels. The injection of FSH helps in maintaining the level high in the body. This method allows the ovaries to generate more mature eggs.
- LH (Luteinizing Hormone): just prior to the ovulation period, the estrogen level triggers a hype in LH, leading to ovulation. With the help of a hefty dose of the trigger shot of chronic human gonadotropin (HCG), this helps stimulate the ovulation and starts the process.
After stimulating the ovarian and before the ovulation comes the phase of retrieval of eggs in IVF treatment.
